PROBLEM 5 (due Nov, 30, 10 points)

The equation

y = f(x) = exp(-x) - x = 0,

where exp is the exponential function, has only one real solution.
First plot f(x) versus x over an appropriate range that includes the root of the function. [Please read chs. 2 and 5 to see how to make a simple plot.]

Compute the solution using the "method of successive approximations" as detailed on pages 194-196 of our textbook.

Make sure that your answer has a relative error of no more than 0.1%.
