SECONDARY MEMORY


  1. The most common form of secondary memory are hard disks, diskettes, tapes, and CD-ROMs.

  2. They operate at much slower speed than the main memory.

  3. Information stored is permanent (non-volatile) until they are re-written.

  4. They are much cheaper (in terms of dollar per mega-byte) than the main memory.

  5. A computer typically has much more secondary memory than main memory.
